ARUBA WIRELESS NETWORKS PROVIDES AIR COVER TO BURTON GROUP FOR ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY CATALYST CONFERENCE
SAN JOSE, CA – June 30, 2003 – Aruba Wireless Networks today announced that it will provide Wi-Fi switching equipment and services to support wireless access for attendees at the upcoming Burton Group Catalyst Conference at the San Francisco Hilton, July 9-11. Burton Group’s Catalyst conference has become one of the most renowned annual enterprise IT gatherings for corporations around the world.
Wi-Fi services at both 11 Mbps (802.11b) and 54 Mbps (802.11 a/g) will be available to more than 1000 conference attendees. At any given time, the Burton Group expects up to 400 or more simultaneous wireless users to be accessing the network within the 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz spectrums.
The Aruba 5000 WLAN switching system will be deployed in the Hilton’s data center giving Burton Group centralized control and management of numerous access points and air monitors sprinkled throughout the hotel. Aruba access points and air monitors will be indirectly connected through the Hilton’s existing L2/L3 network requiring no physical or logical reconfiguration whatsoever.
Aruba’s real-time site survey tool is also being leveraged to define RF propagation and interference characteristics to ensure users experience the highest availability and highest performing wireless services possible. Unlike other site survey applications that provide one-dimensional static site survey coverage maps based on user inputs, Aruba’s real-time site survey is the only tool that makes site surveys dynamic. It does so through real-time and active calibration of the wireless environment. This calibration can be performed whenever the wireless environment changes without human intervention. Aruba professional services will provide on-site system management as well end-user support.
“The Catalyst Conference provides strategic, timely, in-depth information about IT infrastructure,” said Jason Lewis, vice president of Information Technology at Burton Group. “This year we are also providing wireless Internet access for our attendees, based on an intelligent wireless LAN switching system. This adds another layer to the Catalyst experience and demonstrates a real-world use of this evolving technology.”
