Aruba Wireless Networks Sets up Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters in Hong Kong
Offers enterprises centralized approach to securing and managing wired and wireless network services
Hong Kong, 15 November, 2004 - Aruba Wireless Networks™ (Aruba), the world's leading provider of centralized service delivery platforms for enterprise and managed services providers, today announced the opening of its regional headquarters in Hong Kong to answer the growing demand of secure WLAN enterprise connectivity in the Asia Pacific region.
The new office will support Greater China and Southeast Asia and expand the company's global footprint spanning Asia, the United States and Europe. It will also serve as launch pad for Aruba's popular grid architecture, the industry's first structured architecture for delivering network services, such as wireless, mobility and security, to wired and wireless users.
"We are pleased to announce Aruba's Asia expansion with the opening of our new office in Hong Kong. We are very committed to the region and we will strive to provide Asian enterprises with solutions that guarantee the efficiency and performance of their wireless networks," said Dave Butler, VP Worldwide Sales, Aruba Wireless Networks.
Butler said the company established its APAC headquarters to take advantage of the growing popularity of wireless technology. He referred to a recent report from UK-based market research company, BWCS, which indicated that the Asia Pacific region experienced the most dramatic spread of wireless local area network hotspots anywhere in the world, with numbers increasing tenfold from 1,953 in 2002 to 21,308 in 2003.
"This indicates wide scale acceptance of WLAN technologies in the region. Although WLAN adoption in regions like Hong Kong is now largely skewed towards the consumer market, we see growing demand for WLAN technologies in the enterprise space where Wi-Fi access will be of much importance," said Butler.
Centralized Wi-Fi Security
Aruba is positioned at the intersection of two the world's fastest growing technologies: wireless and security. The company is credited for developing the industry's first modular WLAN security system as well as the first unified grid architecture for creating and delivering network services to wired and wireless users. Aruba provides a range of enterprise-class products including modular and stackable wireless LAN switches, grid controllers, wired and wireless grid points and application software.
Aruba's products enable enterprises to build large-scale structured infrastructures that can be centrally controlled to provide on-demand delivery of wireless, mobility and security services. "Aruba's products are designed to manage and secure people not ports." Our products give companies centralized control of their network services in order to radically reduce the operational expense and capital costs associated with deployment and management of discrete wireless, security and mobility appliances," explained Butler.
Aruba pioneered what is regarded as Third Generation wireless architecture with the introduction of centralized architecture 'thin' access points. This architecture stripped media access control functions, such as encryption, authentication and VPN termination, from each AP and integrated them within a centralized controller or switching system.
