THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF MARKETING SELECTS ARUBA FOR SECURE CENTRALISED WLAN
Wireless Network Delivers Cost and Flexibility Benefits to World's Largest Professional Marketing Body
LONDON, UK - November 23, 2005 - Aruba Networks, the Mobile Edge Company, today announced that its industry-leading centralised WLAN technology has been deployed across the nine-acre Moor Hall campus of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, the world's largest professional marketing body.
Aruba's WLAN mobility system now enables both staff and students to benefit from secure mobile computing, accessing the data network wherever they are on campus. Looking after 50,000 customers in 130 countries, Moor Hall, in Berkshire, UK, is the administrative headquarters of The Institute and also hosts training courses and conferences.
The Chartered Institute of Marketing has deployed Aruba's 2400 mobility controller and Aruba AP-52 centrally managed access points (APs) throughout its training areas, lecture theatres, social areas, bars, restaurants, and bedrooms, as well as in the nearby Travelodge, where many students stay during residential training courses.
Aruba's centralised mobility system allows The Institute to easily view, manage and control its entire network from a single physical location. All user and guest security and access policies are also defined from a central location. This means that, while students and visitors can wirelessly access course notes and the Internet, faculty employees and lecturers are also able to securely access other resources such as training materials and student data.
Aruba's mobility system is deployed as a seamless overlay on top of the existing wired network, requiring no physical or logical reconfiguration. In addition to the ease of implementation, the wireless network is also simple to manage. Aruba's Adaptive Radio Management automatically adjusts the channels and power levels of the APs to maximise coverage and performance across the nine-acre campus. Aruba's mobility system also performs RF monitoring and wireless intrusion protection to prevent wireless attacks and to detect rogue wireless devices.
"Aruba's centralised system was the obvious solution to our networking needs," said Christine Cryne, The Institute's chief executive. "The wireless network was more economical and less disruptive to install at our Moor Hall Conference Centre than a wired upgrade would have been, plus it means we can now offer our students, visitors and staff the flexibility of access wherever they are on campus. Overall, Aruba's proven track record in performance and security left us in no doubt that we had found the best wireless system for our requirements."
