ARUBA NETWORKS NAMED AS 2006 READERS' CHOICE AWARD WINNER BY WINDOWS IT PRO

Innovative Family of Access Points Chosen as Best Network Infrastructure by IT Users

SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 28, 2006 - Aruba Networks, the Mobile Edge Company, today announced that its family of enterprise-class secure controlled Access Points (APs) was named the winner in the Network Infrastructure category of the 2006 Windows IT Pro Readers’ Choice Awards. Kim Paulsen, Group Publisher of Penton Media’s Windows IT Pro, announced the winners of the fifth-annual contest.

“The 2006 Windows IT Pro Readers’ Choice Awards continue our tradition of honoring products that our readers tell us are most worthy of recognition,” said Paulsen. “These are the hardware, software, and services that measure up where it counts most--in the businesses, agencies, and institutions that rely on them to deliver what they promise.”

Readers were asked to vote on their product preferences in 12 broad technology categories. More than 5,200 readers chose the best among more than 750 products and services.

“The IT pros who voted in this year's awards are tough, in-the-trenches critics," Paulsen continued. "They demand solid value and performance from the products they use and put those products to the test day after day." Paulsen concluded, "Readers' Choice award winners can feel proud that the products and services they develop have earned the respect and recognition of the IT world's most knowledgeable and exacting professionals."

“It's gratifying to have this validation from real IT personnel using our products in the field," said Keerti Melkote, Aruba's co-founder and vice president, product management and business development. "The fact that Aruba's wireless LAN products were chosen in the broader network infrastructure category points to the growing role of mobility within the enterprise. Our APs were designed specifically to make IT's job easier, so their selection is particularly satisfying.”

Aruba Networks' family of next-generation, multi-purpose access points (APs) is designed to meet the needs of any enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) deployment. Aruba APs include single and dual-radio 802.11a/b/g models with a variety of fixed and detachable antenna options. Aruba APs provide converged voice, video and data connectivity, enabling the mobile edge in campus environments, branch offices and remote locations.

All Aruba APs function as "thin" APs and work in conjunction with Aruba's family of mobility controllers. Upper layer media access control (MAC) processing functions, such as encryption and authentication, are integrated into Aruba mobility controllers, making Aruba APs more cost-effective and easier to deploy and manage. Aruba APs can simultaneously service wireless users and act as wireless monitoring devices. This dual functionality eliminates the need for a separate overlay of RF sensors to provide wireless intrusion protection or troubleshoot and optimize the wireless environment.
