Aruba Networks Selected by Navy Exchange Service Command for Global, PCI-Compliant Wireless Solutions

Secure Mobility Solutions Will Be Deployed At NEXCOM’s Retail Stores Worldwide
Sunnyvale, CA, January 14, 2008 – Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN), a global leader in user-centric networks and secure mobility solutions, today announced that the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) has selected and commenced deployment of Aruba’s adaptive wireless LANs and identity-based security at its 344 retail stores located at 107 U.S. Navy installations worldwide. Faced with an emergent requirement to meet rigorous payment card industry (PCI) data security standards designed to prevent the theft of consumer personal and financial data, NEXCOM chose Aruba’s FIPS 104-2 certified platform as its solution. This platform features a high performance adaptive wireless LAN, secure firewall, and wireless intrusion detection, and is compliant with PCI standards. PCI-compliance is mandatory for many retailers, and non-compliant companies can be barred from processing credit card transactions, charged higher processing fees, or fined.

Aruba’s solution is being overlaid on NEXCOM’s legacy wired network to defend it against network breaches, while providing high security wireless networking for legacy point-of-sale devices, bar code readers, mobile computers, and printers. The Aruba solution will allow NEXCOM to cost-effectively meet rigorous security and privacy standards at its retail stores, warehouses, and offices, while reaping the productivity and cost-savings unique to wireless networks.

NEXCOM’s stores and regional headquarters will be equipped with Aruba Air Monitors that scan both the wired and wireless networks to provide secure access and wireless intrusion detection. Scanned data are aggregated, analyzed, and used to ensure compliance with PCI standards. In the event of an unauthorized access attempt, automated intrusion prevention will generate alerts and block network access. The same Aruba hardware that is used for intrusion prevention is also used for wireless access, lowering deployment and integration costs.

“Retailers need very strong network security both to protect financial transactions and ensure the privacy of customer data,” said Dan Brigati, Aruba’s Federal Director of Operations. “Aruba manages the complex task of providing PCI and Department of Defense Directive 8100.2 compliant security without compromising either user mobility or ease-of-use. Additionally, NEXCOM’s new wireless solution overlays on top of their existing network, preserving investments in legacy equipment while providing a path for future growth.”
