SUNNYVALE, Calif. and PARIS, November 28, 2006 – Aruba Networks, the Mobile Edge Company, today announced that Group Lapeyre, a leading manufacturer and distributor of home improvement products in Europe, and a subsidiary of Group Saint Gobain, is expanding its deployment of Aruba’s Mobile Edge architecture. While Group Lapeyre has had Aruba’s mobility solutions deployed at its headquarters since 2004, the company is now extending this network to the Group’s industrial sites, including several factories, warehouses and shipping docks.

“As far as we’re concerned, Aruba’s solutions guarantee the best performance on the market today, incorporating simplified and centralized deployment and management as well as highly evolved security functions such as a stateful firewalls, encryption, authentication and IDS/IPS to meet with even the most rigorous demands,” said Patrick Goubin, Group Lapeyre’s networks and telecoms manager. “The combination of these qualities has led to the solutions being referenced throughout Group Saint Gobain companies.”

In addition to the wireless installation at Lapeyre’s headquarters, Aruba 800 mobility controllers and Aruba AP 60/61 Access Points (APs) are being deployed at four of Lapeyre’s industrial sites. Additionally, all new sites will be equipped with Aruba mobility solutions.

A concentration of APs will be placed in the warehouse and shipping areas to ensure quality coverage in areas where signal interference is common and where building materials absorb radio waves (e.g., tiling). Aruba’s advanced security capabilities enable information to be securely transmitted to industrial, “hardened” tablet PCs installed on forklifts in factories and warehouses. Warehouse and logistics workers also use wireless handheld scanners for inventory tracking.

“When you are faced with the context of an industrial site where configurations change regularly, wireless is the only viable technology,” continued Goubin. “With the Aruba Mobile Edge architecture, we are able to use the same mobility controller to implement different configurations with varying levels of authentication, according to the requirements of the environment.”

Lapeyre also intends to deploy a WLAN within the warehouses and factory meeting rooms by next year. Numerous other possible applications are under review and will be deployed in accordance with Group Lapeyre’s priorities.

“Within the manufacturing and logistics sectors, Aruba’s Mobile Edge supports new strategic business applications such as warehouse stock management, RFID and location-based services that contribute to overall efficiency, customer satisfaction and profitability,” said Gary Singh, Aruba Network’s head of marketing. “We are very happy that Lapeyre, a leader in its market and a company on the cutting edge of innovation, has chosen Aruba for its secure, scalable and cost-effective wireless network and applications.”
