Dräger Medical and Aruba
As the use of wireless LANs grow in healthcare organizations, so too does the requirement for bandwidth, and the need for allocation of that bandwidth to critical applications and tasks. Aruba Network's bandwidth management features allow hospitals to dynamically allocate bandwidth to individual or groups of high-priority devices, such as Dräger's patient monitors. Dräger Medical's Infinity OneNet solution, which is both a network architecture and a comprehensive suite of professional services, enables patient monitoring information to be transmitted over the existing WLAN. Aruba's unified mobility network is the ideal complement, enabling flexible bandwidth usage depending on which clients are on each access point and freeing reserved bandwidth when patient monitors are not present. Aurba's unified mobility network also ensures that data collected from patient monitors is completely secure throughout the transmission, while built-in QoS capabilities ensure that sensitive real-time data is protected agains latency and jitter. The combination of Infinity OneNet and Aruba Networks delivers guaranteed bandwidth for critical applications, complete security, and reduced costs by leveraging existing WLAN.

Welch Allyn and Aruba
Healthcare organizations require access to clinical information wherever and whenever it is needed. Welch Allyn's Acuity patient monitoring solution addresses these needs by delivering critical patient vital signs data from wireless monitors to the Acuity Central Monitoring Station, providing the power to monitor as many as 60 patients per unit from one central location on a simple, easy-to-use interface. Moreover, this information can be accessed by clinicians from any web browser, as needed. Welch Allyn is the only company offering the capability to leverage a hospital's WLAN (802.11a) for patient monitoring in a shared environment. Welch Allyn has designed their own radio card that allows its current installed base of wireless devices to be converted from FHSS to 802.11a with a card exchange. Additional benefits include minimal power consumption and an embedded processor that handles all security certificates at the card.
