Smartphone- and Tablet-based Point-of-Sale

Increase in-store customer satisfaction and sales per square foot

Infinite Peripherals’ Linea-Pro 4
Linea-pro-4 allows mobile workers to convert their iPod touch and iPhone handset into a powerful point-of-sale solution. The Linea-pro 4 includes optional 1D or 2D barcode scanner, 3-tracks magnetic stripe reader, and a rechargeable battery extender in a very compact protective case.

Retailers are the midst of a point-of-sale (PoS) transformation from terminals to smartphones and tablets. In fact, many retailers have started embracing this as best practices and, according to a recent poll, 56% of retailers who were surveyed plan to use iPads for PoS in the next two years.

To support this transformation, Aruba has partnered with LightSpeed Retail and Infinite Peripherals to create a smartphone- and tablet-based PoS solution that enhances the customer’s shopping experience.

This joint solution combines Infinite Peripherals’ Linea-Pro, a combination barcode scanner/credit card swipe reader, with LightSpeed’s mobile PoS application for the iGeneration, supported by an Aruba wireless LAN infrastructure based on the Aruba Mobile Virtual Enterprise (MOVE) architecture.

Aruba smartphone- and tablet-based PoS solution consists of:

  • Smartphone- and tablet-optimized in-store Wi-Fi
The context-aware Aruba MOVE architecture enables Wi-Fi policy enforcement using device-fingerprinting, application-fingerprinting and device location. This enables retailers to prioritize mobile PoS applications over less critical traffic and ensure a positive customer experience. Aruba also allows smartphones and tablets to be shipped directly to stores for quick and easy self-provisioning by store employees.
  • LightSpeed’s Mobile PoS application for the iGeneration
Collaboration between Aruba and its partner and mobile PoS leader LightSpeed, an award-winning retail technology company, offers stores a true advantage over competitors with an alternative to traditional retail systems and long, impersonal line ups at the register. Retail sales staff can use LightSpeed Mobile to connect to a LightSpeed database and process sales anywhere in the store with an iPad, iPod touch or or beyond the store at pop-up locations, trade shows and special events, using iPhone.
  • Infinite Peripherals magnetic stripe reader
Infinite Peripherals’ Linea-pro allows mobile workers to convert their iPod touch and iPhone handset into a powerful point-of-sale solution. The Linea-pro includes optional 1D or 2D barcode scanners, 3-track magnetic stripe reader, and a rechargeable battery extender in a very compact protective case.
