Effective Network Access Control in a Wireless World

Network Access Control, or NAC, has become a bad word in enterprise security over the past few years because early NAC efforts proved undeployable. But NAC and wireless have a natural affinity for each other - the security architecture of wireless makes NAC deployment simple, while the multi-user and multi-device nature of WLAN makes NAC extremely valuable. This technical brief shows how effective NAC can be implemented using an Aruba WLAN with Aruba's Endpoint Compliance System.

Looking For Trouble: Emergency Call Handling Using Aruba Wireless LANs

In this document we detail how an Aruba wireless LAN (WLAN) can interface with UCM/CER to deliver an E9-1-1 solution. Aruba's WLAN is a drop-in replacement for Cisco's less capable WLAN in the UCM/CER architecture.

Adaptive Radio Management (ARM)

Wireless networking has the potential to deliver unprecedented mobility benefits provided that Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum is properly managed. Aruba's Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) takes the guesswork out of RF management by using automatic, infrastructure-based controls to maximize client performance and enhance the stability and predictability of the entire Wi-Fi network.

ARM works with all standard clients, across all operating systems, while remaining in compliance with IEEE 802.11 standards.

802.11n Client Throughput Performance

Since enterprises are likely to deploy a variety of class 802.11n Draft 2.0 client types, testing was conducted to reveal performance variances and compatibility among different client types. This paper describes the results of the testing including the performance of different client types as well as the impact of multiple clients in an 802.11n WLAN infrastructure.

Aruba and Cisco NAC Integration

Cisco NAC is the architecture that provides mechanisms to authenticate and verify the client integrity of a host before it is permitted to enter the network. This extends across various interfaces of network access, including wired, wireless and remote access.

Operating Your Aruba WLAN With AirWave

Your wireless network is not just growing; it’s becoming the primary means of access for some of your most important users. Mobility is enabling your users to become more productive, and you’ve likely been able to reduce costs by eliminating excess wired ports as users shift to wireless. Your WLAN is already a mission-critical network. Now you need to make it simpler and easier to support users so that your service desk can solve problems without escalating the majority of trouble tickets to network engineering.

Secure and Scalable Enforcement of Microsoft's Network Access Protection in Mobile Networks

In today's era of increasing mobile computing, one of the greatest challenges to businesses is the increasing exposure of client devices to malicious software such as viruses, worms, and spyware. No longer are user devices primarily desktop systems that remain behind a corporate firewall and in contact with IT management systems at all times.

Instead, companies increasingly outfit their employees with wireless-equipped laptops, PDAs, and other mobile devices that regularly leave the corporate network and attach to networks at homes, public wireless hotspots, hotels, and partner sites. When these devices return to the corporate network, any malicious software they may be carrying can be spread to other corporate systems. For this reason, ensuring that these devices are properly protected from malicious software has become a key interest of IT departments.

Beyond the Hype: Voice over Wireless LAN

Voice over IP over Wireless LAN (VoWLAN) is becoming increasingly important to enterprises, and network managers are increasingly planning it into their next round of technology upgrades. Many have called voice the "killer app" for wireless networks, and others have called wireless the "killer app" for voice over IP (VoIP).

While VoWLAN is in its early stages, network managers have clearly indicated their desire for wireless LAN systems to support current and future requirements of ths technology.

Aruba Networks supplies customers with the most comprehensive set of VoWLAN features available with industry- leading performance independently verified by leading test labs.

Dedicated Air Monitors? You Decide.

Aruba customers commonly ask:
"Do I need dedicated air monitors in an Aruba deployment, or can I get by with just access points?"

The answer is:
Aruba access points double perfectly well as air monitors, but dedicated air monitors provide extra performance and protection.

Meeting FIPS Requirements for 802.11i WLAN

From the boardroom to the battlefield, no user has a greater need for mobile communications than the Government. Until recently, however, WLAN technology has been a trade off between increased productivity and security. To take advantage of wireless technologies, the only option for government agencies, per Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8100.2, was to deploy a Layer 2 encryption overlay on top of their wireless infrastructure.

Aruba Networks took a fundamentally different approach to WLAN security by centralizing the architecture. The result was the Aruba Mobile Edge solution.

PCI Compliance With AirWave

Any organization that handles credit card data must be ready at all times to undergo a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) audit to show they are complying with best practices for ensuring cardholder security. Version 1.2 of PCI-DSS was recently released, and contains new and upgraded requirements related to wireless networks. With wireless technologies reaching virtually every retail facility - from stores to distribution centers and headquarters - it is especially important for IT to demonstrate that the wireless infrastructure is secure. AirWave Wireless Management Suite (AWMS) software is an essential tool for achieving - and demonstrating - compliance with critical PCI requirements.
