Connecting to the management port
Prerequisites
- Two Ethernet cables
- SSH client software
Procedure
-
By default, the management interface is set to automatically obtain an IP address from a DHCP server, and SSH support is enabled. If there is no DHCP server on your network, you must configure a static address on the management interface:
- Connect to the console port.
- Configure the management interface.
- Use an Ethernet cable to connect the management port to your network.
- Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to the same network.
- Start your SSH client software and configure a new session using the address assigned to the management interface. (If the management interface is set to operate as a DHCP client, retrieve the IP address assigned to the management interface from your DHCP server.)
- Start the session. If the connection is successful, you are prompted to log in.
