After you assign a classification set to the device cluster, the generic devices Generic devices are unknown devices which cannot be classified using any of the system or user defined classification criteria. Generic devices do not contain enough fingerprint data to classify them. Generic devices are grouped into device clusters by similar properties and can then be classified by the user either by assigning a classification set to the device cluster or creating a user defined rule. associated with that device cluster are classified with this information. These generic devices are now considered user classified devices User classified devices are devices that have been classified by the user. Devices can be classified by a user by assigning a classification set to a device cluster or creating a user defined rule and then reclassifying the devices.. The generic devices associated with that device cluster are no longer displayed on the Generic Devices page. These devices are now displayed on the Classified Devices page and the User Classified Devices page.

If you have uploaded an image of the device, an email with all of the device cluster details and attachment is sent to Aruba. Aruba evaluates the image and may or may not apply it to ClearPass Device Insight because Aruba may already possess a better image. You and other customers of ClearPass Device Insight may see the new image in ClearPass Device Insight after the next deployment cycle after the email is received.
