Platform Issue ID Description

Windows

VIA-2988

An issue is resolved where devices running some versions of Windows 10 (such as version 2004, 1909 and 1803) were unable to auto-upgrade to a later version of VIA 4.x using an external downloadable URLUniform Resource Locator. URL is a global address used for locating web resources on the Internet.. Improvements in VIA 4.0.3 resolve this issue.

NOTE: To upgrade to VIA 4.0.3, the VIA software must be installed on the client machine. This can be done either by performing a fresh installation of VIA4.0.3, or by doing a manual upgrade to 4.0.3 using the locally installed software. To allow users to perform a VIA upgrade using an external download method, Aruba has provided a new installer file with the naming convention ArubaVIA-<version>-<platform>-external.msi. This installer file has embedded custom data that allows the VIA software module to check integrity during the upgrade process, This embedded custom data can prevent some browsers from completing an integrity and trust check on the downloaded file. The administrator may consult the sha256 checksum of the downloaded file with the checksum provided in aruba.sha566.txt on the Aruba support portal.
