Central Cloud vs. Central On-Prem (COP)

Central is available either as a cloud-delivered AAS product or as an on-premises product. Both versions are built on the same Cloud-native micro-services based architecture and each has unique advantages.

Traditional Central hosted in the Cloud provides frequent updates and new features, eliminates the need for maintaining hardware and updating software, and scales effortlessly to handle any size network. Various hosting regions are available worldwide to ensure the best performance and to conform to data sovereignty requirements. Service provider options allow multiple customers to be managed securely using a single outsourced service provider.

Central On-Prem/COP is appropriate when security requirements disallow Internet connectivity and AOS10 features are not required. It is also appropriate when latency to Central Cloud locations is high, as typically seen in remote locations served by satellite Internet, such as cruise ships. It is available as an appliance-based model, with some additional upfront costs. Planning and deployment of COP are not covered by this guide.
