Gateways WAN Uplinks Having Higher Latency than Peers

The Gateway WAN uplinks have higher latency than comparable peers insight can be accessed from the Global, Site, and Gateways context. This insight typically occurs when a particular WAN Wide Area Network. WAN is a telecommunications network or computer network that extends over a large geographical distance. uplink has a high latency within the same geographical region (city, state, or country). It is triggered when a link latency is greater than 50 ms or above 75 percent of the peers in the same geographical location. It is categorized under availability.

The link latency is scored based on the following:

  • Absolute latency measurement—The measurement is achieved from the telemetry of the probe IPs configured in the same geographical location. It is measured in milliseconds (ms).
  • Relative latency measurement—This measurement is achieved by comparing different gateways that use the same probe IP in the same geographical location. It is measured in percentiles.

This insight displays the following information:

Insight Summary

The insight summary provides the following details:

  • Reason—Displays the possible causes for gateways using higher latency as compared to their peers.
  • Recommendation—Displays the possible recommendation against each failure to resolve the same.

Time Series Graph

At the Global context, it displays the number of gateways with higher than peer average latency WAN links in the network during the selected time period.

At the Site and Device (gateway) context, it displays the average latency (msec) along with baseline value (peer average latency) per uplink type in the network during the selected time period. The uplink type can be selected from the drop-down menu in the time series graph.

You can hover your mouse over each bar graph to see the exact number of bad gateways in each timestamp.
