Creating a Guest Network

The following procedure is intended to allow limited access admins to create a temporary network.

To create a guest network profile, complete the following steps:

  1. In the WebUI, filter a group. Navigate to Manage > Guests and click the configuration icon.

    The Guest Access > Guest Network page is displayed.

  2. Click Create Guest Network.
  3. In SSID, enter an SSID Service Set Identifier. SSID is a name given to a WLAN and is used by the client to access a WLAN network. for the new guest network.
  4. In the Security option, select Open or WPA2 Wi-Fi Protected Access 2. WPA2 is a certification program maintained by IEEE that oversees standards for security over wireless networks. WPA2 supports IEEE 802.1X/EAP authentication or PSK technology, but includes advanced encryption mechanism using CCMP that is referred to as AES.-PSK Pre-shared key. A unique shared secret that was previously shared between two parties by using a secure channel. This is used with WPA security, which requires the owner of a network to provide a passphrase to users for network access. .
    • If you selected the WPA2-PSK option, enter a password in Passphrase to access the guest network.
  5. Select a splash page profile from the Splash page drop-down-list.
  6. Click Add to enter the required time settings. The Time Settings dialog box appears.
    • In the Name box, enter a name for the time settings.
    • Select a type of time setting from the Time Setting drop-down list. You can choose from two options—Periodic or Absolute.

    Period Type

    Select one of the four options—Daily, Weekday, Weekend, or Day.

    Start day

    This is available if you selected Day for Period Type. Select a start day (Monday–Saturday).

    Start time

    Select the required start time in hour (0–23) and minutes (0-59).

    End day

    This is available if you selected Day for Period Type. Select an end day (Monday–Saturday).

    End time

    Select the required end time in hour (0–23) and minutes (0-59).

    Absolute option

    Start day

    Enter the start day in mm/dd/yyyy format.

    Start time

    Select the required start time in hour (0–23) and minutes (0-59).

    End day

    Enter the end day in mm/dd/yyyy format.

    End time

    Select the required end time in hour (0–23) and minutes (0-59).

    You can configure an absolute time range profile to execute during a specific time frame. Or, you can create a periodic profile to execute at regular intervals based on the periodicity specified in the configuration.

  7. Click Save in the Time Settings dialog box.
  8. Click Save in the Create Guest Network pane. The guest network profile is created and is available for the specified time frame.

The time profile and the guest network created from the Guest Access application cannot be edited from the Network Management application.

Editing a Guest Network Profile

To edit a guest network profile:

  1. In the WebUI, filter a group. Navigate to Manage > Guests and click the configuration icon.
  2. In the Guest Networks table, click the pencil icon in the row corresponding to the guest network profile you want to edit. The Edit Guest Network page is displayed.
  3. Edit the required fields and click Save.

Deleting a Guest Network Profile

To delete a guest network profile:

  1. In the WebUI, filter a group. Navigate to Manage > Guests and click the configuration icon.
  2. In the Guest Networks table, click the bin icon in the row corresponding to the guest network profile you want to delete. A Confirm Action dialog box is displayed.
  3. Click Yes to confirm deletion of the guest network profile.
