Assigning a Group Role to an Aruba Gateway Group
The term persona in Aruba Central refers to a group role that you can set for the device groups. To deploy gateways for the SD-Branch or WLAN Wireless Local Area Network. WLAN is a 802.11 standards-based LAN that the users access through a wireless connection. solution, you must configure a group role to designate gateways as Branch Gateways or VPNCs.
To assign a group role to the gateways in a group, complete the following steps:
- In the Aruba Central app, set the filter to a group that contains at least one active gateway.
The dashboard context for the selected group is displayed.

A list of gateways is displayed in the
view.
, click > . - Click the icon.
- In the pop-up window, select the group role as or .
- Select a group role and save settings.
- After you define a group role as a VPNC or Branch Gateway, Aruba Central does not allow you to edit or modify the group role.
- You can configure Aruba IDPS only on Aruba 9004 gateways. Aruba 9004 gateways can be deployed only as Branch Gateways.
