Monitoring and Troubleshooting
This section provides monitoring and troubleshooting information for deploying or managing the Unified Fabric solution. From Orchestrator, you can use the following items to monitor the Unified Fabric.
-
Dashboard
Monitoring > Summary > Dashboard
When you log in to Orchestrator, the dashboard provides a general, high-level overview of the network. For more information about what is shown on the Dashboard, see the Dashboard section in the Orchestrator User Guide.
-
Tunnels Tab
Configuration > Networking > Tunnels > Tunnels
On this tab, you can view the status of the tunnels in your network. To view the tunnels built by ORO and OTO that go to the EdgeConnect gateways from the hubs, click HPE ANW Central. When the tunnels are up, the Status column shows the text “up - active”.
-
Reachability Tab
Administration > Tools > Monitoring > Reachability Status
On this tab you can determine if the EdgeConnect gateways have established communication with HPE Aruba Networking Central. To see only reachability data for the EdgeConnect gateways that are part of the Unified Fabric, click Appliances/HPE ANW Central.
If the EdgeConnect gateways have established communication with HPE Aruba Networking Central, you should see the following for each hub gateway:
-
The status columns for HPE ANW Central WebSocket, ORO (gRPC), and OTO (gRPC) are green and show the text “Connected”.
-
The hostname of the HPE Aruba Networking Central instance.
-
The IP address of the HPE Aruba Networking Central instance.
-
If you have checked these items in Orchestrator and determined that the EdgeConnect gateways are not connected to HPE Aruba Networking Central, see the following sections:
-
Check to see if all IPSec maps have been received from the HPE Aruba Networking Central Overlay Tunnel Orchestrator (OTO).
-
Verify that the HPE Aruba Networking Central Overlay Route Orchestrator (ORO) is functioning as expected.
Control Connection
If there are no OTO tunnels up or the IPSec mappings are not received from OTO, check the control connection to determine if the EdgeConnect gateway has established communication with OTO. To do this, you can verify the status of the IPSec maps in HPE Aruba Networking Central.
-
Log in to HPE Aruba Networking Central, navigate to the Global dashboard, select the SDB group, and then select a device.
-
Click Routing > Overlay.
-
Check that the State column shows, “OAP CHANNEL CONNECTED”.
If the status shows that it is not connected, check the following items:
-
Make sure the license is in place in HPE Greenlake Cloud and is assigned to the devices. See Apply Subscription License to the EdgeConnect Gateways.
-
Make sure you have enabled Orchestrator to communicate with HPE Aruba Networking Central. See Enable Orchestrator to Communicate with HPE Aruba Networking Central.
-
Make sure the EdgeConnect gateways are assigned as hubs in Orchestrator. See Configure the EdgeConnect Gateways as Hubs.
Overlay Route Orchestration
The following instructions describe how to verify that the HPE Aruba Networking Central Overlay Route Orchestrator (ORO) is functioning as expected.
Check the Advertised Routes to the SD-WAN Overlay
-
Log in to HPE Aruba Networking Central.
-
From the Global dashboard navigate to Devices > Gateways and select a device.
-
Click Routing, and then click Overlay.
-
From the OVERLAY DETAILS menu, select Routes advertised.
The advertised overlay routes are displayed in the UI.
Check the Received Routes from the SD-WAN Overlay
-
In HPE Aruba Networking Central, navigate to Devices > Gateways and select a device.
-
Click Routing, and then click Overlay.
-
From the OVERLAY DETAILS menu, select Routes learned.
The received overlay routes are displayed in the UI.
Verify the Routes Installed in the Routing Table
-
In HPE Aruba Networking Central, navigate to Devices > Gateways and select a device.
-
Click Route Table.
View the Details of the Orchestrated Overlay Routes
-
In HPE Aruba Networking Central, navigate to Network Services > SD-WAN OVERLAY > Route.
-
Click Hubs, and then select the Hub Group.
-
To view the hubs (devices) and overlay routes for each hub in the group, click Map. In the following example, SEWAN-EC Hub is selected as the Hub Group, and the Andover site is selected in the map view. The Andover site has two hubs, Andover-EC1 and Andover-EC2. You can expand the details for a hub to view the routes advertised to that hub.
